Days with my father – Published

It’s not new but it is amazingly good. I recall seeing this a while ago and just found out  that Mr Phillip Toledano’s touching project ‘Days with my Father‘ has found a publisher.

PQ Blackwell will publish the book of the project.  Glad to see that this has been picked up. Phil had approached many publishers to no avail which is quite a surprise especially as the dedicated site had attracted so much attention.

1st snowboard since the OP

Managed to get a sneaky little snowboarding session in at the Tamworth snow dome yesterday.  Was up in Tam for a meeting so me and a few colleagues decided to make a quick dash across the road and get our skis on (well snowboard for me)

Some more pics from the weekend

During the weekend we had a mess about using the Nikon D3s’ awesome fps to take some exploding balloon shots.  I think the D3 can hit something like 9fps, which is pretty dam fast! Fast enough to capture shots like these……

Sunset & Light trails

This weekend my mate James was able to take time out of his Navel photography course and come see me.

That morning James had been given [yes that's right...given] a new D3 as his kit camera (along with a impressive selection of lenses)

So, Friday night, with the weather staying fairly nice, we decided to have a play with the new camera and take some ‘sunset’ pictures.  I took my D90 with it’s new optech grip along with my new 055XPROB tripod (which was excellent)!

D5000 Service Advisory

Found this while browsing the web, thought I would post it here just to get the word out.

Indications of this issue include:

  1. The camera cannot be operated when the power switch is on, even with a fully-charged battery.
  2. The camera cannot be operated with the EH-5a AC Adapter connected through the EP-5 Power Connector and the power switch on.

The Photographer’s Ephemeris – BETA

An excellent idea and very well executed!

Taken from Stephens page

Landscape photographers typically wish to plan their shoots around the times of sunrise/sunset or twilight, or alternatively when the moon is in a particular place in a particular phase.

While times of sunrise etc. are readily available on various sites on the internet (direction of sunrise etc. less so, but still readily found), there are fewer programs available which combine such information with a topographical map allowing the photographer to match the astronomical to the location.

A typical use might be to determine when the sun will set along the axis of a mountain valley, or when a full moon rise will rise across a lake.

The application uses Google Maps providing users the ability to select a location and determine the time and azimuth of sunrise or sunset for a given date or dates.

You’ll need adobe air as well but a link for that can be found after the jump.

More camera gear

So it seems I have now become fully addicted to photogging. Every spare minutes (and some minutes that shouldn’t be spare) are spent browsing various forums and photo blogs looking for ideas and inspiration.  I have found a number of very talented photographers who live in Bristol as I do, and am building up to asking them how the hell they do it.  I’ll put a few links to some of the flickr galleries a bit later.

My camera gear

So, I like photography, I think its highly addictive, but highly expensive hobby if you get in to it.  I have wanted a DSLR camera for a fair old while but couldn’t really justify it to myself.  When we booked our honeymoon (now that’s another story right there) I found it the perfect reason to go out and buy.
